One Piece: Oda Reveals A New Supreme Grade Sword In SBS Vol 109

One Piece volume 109 is just around the corner, with Oda having already released the cover for it, along with its contents. Fans know that this whole volume is going to be covering the Kuma flashback that every reader of the story holds so close to their hearts, and that makes it incredibly special in more ways than one. Of course, with every One Piece Volume comes a new SBS corner, where Oda answers fan questions.

Most of the time, these questions are light-hearted and just fun between the author and the readers. However, at times, these questions can be more serious and actually reveal quite a lot of interesting information pertaining to an element of the story. One Piece Volume 109 SBS corner seems to have quite a lot of exciting information packed inside, and more recently, Oda revealed the new Supreme Grade Sword user in this volume, shocking all the fans in the process.

The Supreme Grade Swords In One Piece

The Supreme Grade Blades Are the Strongest In The Entire World

When it comes to the swords in One Piece, fans know that the ones that stand out the most are the Meito, or the named swords. These are special blades that not just anyone can wield in the One Piece world. Their power is unparalleled and their sharpness is like no normal blade. However, even within the Meito, there are grades. Fans were introduced to the grades quite early in One Piece. For those who do not remember them, the grades start from Wazamono (Grade Blades), Ryowazamono (Skilful Grade Blades), Owazamono (Great Grade Blades), and finally, Saijo Owazamono (Supreme Grade Blades). Each grade of blade in One Piece has a specific number of blades assigned. For instance, there is a total of 50 Skillful Grade swords in One Piece, and 21 Great Grade Swords in One Piece. At the same time, of the Supreme Grade Blades, which are the finest of all, there are a total of 12. This means that only 12 such powerful blades exist in the One Piece World. Clearly, it is not a surprise for the fans to know that the Supreme Grade Blades are the strongest of all and that they carry the most power.

There are many blades in the One Piece world, but there are blades that were made by renowned blacksmiths.

Only the most skillful of sword users are strong enough to utilize the Supreme Grade blades, and fans know that Oda is only ever going to assign these blades to the strongest people. These blades are sharper than any other, and carry an edge that cuts deep and true. The Supreme Grade Swords are, simply put, in a league of their own, and they make the user much stronger as well. However, as was confirmed by Kozaburo, swords often tend to choose their owners, and if a Supreme Grade Sword chooses their owner, then the user must be on a completely different level altogether.

Fujitora’s Supreme Grade Sword: Yakuza Kasen

Fujitora’s Sword Yakuza Kasen Is Among the 12 Finest In One Piece

In One Piece volume 109 SBS, Oda revealed a new Supreme Grade Sword to the fans. This came as an unexpected twist in the story, as Admiral Fujitora is revealed to be its user. Fujitora was first introduced to the fans in the Dressrosa arc, and his level of strength was revealed there as well. Although he has yet to go all out, fans know for a fact that he holds tremendous powers up his sleeve and that he cannot be stopped easily. He is one of the strongest assets of the Navy, and his skill is absolutely immense. He is also a very powerful swordsman, despite being blind. In fact, his moniker of Blind Swordsman is a testament to his swordsmanship as it doesn’t even feel like he’s blind in the first place. A character as powerful as Fujitora deserves the weapon of the highest grade, and that is precisely why Oda has chosen a Supreme Grade Blade for him. In One Piece volume 109 SBS, Oda was asked the name and the rank of Fujitora’s sword, and this is what he had to say.

Question: Please tell us the name and rank of Fujitora’s sword.

Oda: It’s called the “やくざ火線” (Yakuza Kasen – Yakuza Firing Line). It’s a “shikomizue” (swordstick, cane sword), and it’s one of the Supreme Grade Blades. It is a meito (named blade) made by Fugetsu Kisaburou from Wano Country.

Clearly, Fujitora’s sword is one of the strongest in the One Piece world and this doesn’t come as a surprise to any fan. Oda goes on to specify the type of the sword as well, which fans already knew to be a swordstick. The most important part other than the sword’s rank is the fact that it was made by Fugetsu Kisaburo, from the land of Wano. Fans might not remember, but the Fugetsu family is one of the most prominent families in the land of Wano, alongside Amatsuki, Kozuki, Kurozumi, and Uzuki. Fans even got to see a former Daimyo of the Fugetsu Family during a flashback, who fought alongside Shimotsuki Ushimaru.

It is believed that this character, Fugetsu Kisaburo, existed long ago and crafted this mighty powerful blade. Somehow, it found its way to Fujitora. How that happened is something fans do not know. Perhaps, Fujitora has ties to the land of Wano, or perhaps there’s something else entirely. Hopefully, fans will find out more details about this later down the line in One Piece.

How Strong Is Fujitora’s Yakuza Kasen?

Fujitora’s Blade Is One Of The Strongest In The Whole World

The Yakuza Kasen is an immensely powerful sword and fans always knew this right from the get-go. This is simply down to the fact that this sword can actually channel gravity through it and sustain immense pressure. A regular sword should not be able to sustain pressures of gravity that far exceed anything. The fact that the sword can do that proves that it is incredibly durable and worthy of being Supreme Grade. At the same time, fans also know this sword to be working incredibly well in conjunction with Fujitora’s own powers, which makes it doubly special. This sword is tremendously sharp as well. It can cut through steel, stone, and just about anything. Fujitora’s status as a mighty powerful swordsman despite being blind has much to do with Yakuza Kasen.

The Yakuza Kasen has not been seen much in action ever since the conclusion of the Dressrosa arc, but fans will most definitely get to see more of it in the Final Saga. Fujitora is going to be called into action soon enough, and when he does take the frontlines, Oda will showcase what he is truly capable of, in terms of swordplay, Haki, and of course, Devil Fruit usage as well. Fans simply need to sit back and enjoy the ride as Fujitora reveals his mastery of this powerful Supreme Grade yakuza Kasen.
